The 2023 edition of the Staffordshire Goblin event was held on a wonderful hot day on Wednesday the 14th of June at Curborough Sprint Course. These events, organised by Greenpower, give school children the opportunity to build and race their own electric kit car.
Once again, the PEMC Research Group from the University of Nottingham and Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Primary Academy from Bulwell in Nottingham worked hard on their entry to this year’s event: the OLOPS Super Star Racers!
With almost 50 Goblin electric carts participating in the Staffordshire event, OLOPS Super Star Racers did fantastic and look forward to seeing how they ranked amongst the many schools that travelled from different parts of the country to participate once the final results are released.
It is always a great event where all children, aged 9 and 10, join in with such enthusiasm and excitement working as a team at every step, fully committed to make it a memorable day for themselves and the school they are representing. Behind a great group of children, there are always great teachers and we wouldn’t be able to run the “Electric cart project” without their passion, enthusiasm and time.
Thank you to Sarah Fedyszyn and Ellen Flynn from OLOPS whose dedication to this activity is invaluable. We hope to see some of these children in a few years’ time returning as Graduates in Engineering as some of them have already hinted!
